  • An analogy does not conveniently spring to mind to describe the essential futility of this approach to measurement of social media metrics. Suffice to point out that what it seeks to measure are none of the attributes that give social media its influence. At the end of the day there is precious little point in trying to place ads in the social media space – its a bit like looking at a Ferrari as a good place to store your groceries. There – an analogy materialised in the end.
  • This is a growing trend, reflecting the fact that you can't have a converstaion with a machine, only a person. Its part of the inevitable move towards creating conversation departments and switching spend from buying media (distribution) into creating content / conversation

  • This article makes an interesting point. It matches my personal experience where I have found myself relying on Twitter to keep up to speed on things and visiting my feed reader far less. RSS won't die, but it probably has surrendered its place at the frontline of information aggregation. It will become more a behind the scenes structural component of the social media space.
