  • Twitter may not be mainstream, but it has definitely "made it" when it starts to generate this sort of response. Of course twitter (or any social networking tool) is not the issue in terms of facilitating terrorism. They no more facilitate terrorism than a screwdriver facilitates creation of a suicide bomb. Indeed the open nature of these networks means that simply listening-in to them should provide all the security intelligence you need – absolutely no need for regulation or data storage. Social networking tools are only a danger in-so-far as usage of them is in advance of security organisations' comprehension of them – which is probably the case currently.
