This is something the GM re-launched today. It is a (sort of) example of what I call a content hub – i.e. a platfrom for launching content and making it discoverable. However, I think GM have over-engineered this and it is still more a place designed to drive people to (web 1.0 thinking), rather than allow the content within it to thrive on its own in social media space. For example they have re-created their own flickr for images – why not just use the real Flickr and link to it. Likewise with video – just use YouTube. Both Flickr and YouTube are always going to be better, more discoverable places for your content than anything you can build yourself. Likewise – don't create your own chat forums – participate in the forums where the conversation iis already happening. 5 out of 10.
