Here is a link to an interesting article / piece of research done by Custom Communication. It shows how blogs and the mainstream media feed off each other to create and the extend the life of a controversial issue.
I would also recommend attending Custom’s Social Media Influence conference (see the link at the end of the article). I went last year and it was very useful, especially if your organisation is starting the journey of engaging with social media. Unfortunately I can’t go this year – moving house!
