I have just noticed that in previous links I have not covered The Long Tail – an article, then a book, now a concept, devised by Chris Anderson, editor of Wired. This has become one of the defining insights on the web2.0 world and the original piece, written in 2004, is required reading. The book expands on the article, but doesn’t add a huge amount more in terms of insight.

However, I would also advise looking at this critique by Alan Mitchell, which injects some necessary reality into the Long Tail hype.
